The Emperors New Clothes, Revised

Recently I’ve been thinking about the childhood story of the Emperors New Clothes and the current economic situation.

     If we don’t learn the lessons being presented by the current economic mess we are bound to repeat them. We are being presented with an opportuninty to revise, revamp and rethink our economic model.
     How do people get rich? Generally speaking with our current model of consumerism; sell, sell, sell a bunch of junk that nobody really needs. Why are people losing jobs now? The car companies haven’t been able to convince us to buy the cars they make. The bankers over extended themselves with the loans they were selling. The motto was sell more; sell faster. Who cares that the experts have been worrying about a “bubble” that would burst for years and years. The crash was bound to happen. I might even venture to say that it was inevitable.
